About Us

Bob Dunham and his colleagues at the Institutes for Generative Leadership (IGL) have been working with the human being and our relationship with language, emotions, embodiment, life, and meaning since 1981 in developing the discipline of Generative Leadership. Generative Leadership is based on the structure of how human beings coordinate and create action, results, value, and meaning in the fields of leadership, teamwork, organizational performance, and human relationships. The discipline provides generative practices that enable people to create shared futures and coordinate the actions to realize them.

The advent of AI has introduced new extraordinary intelligences into our world. Our interactions with them happen in the same language that leadership and human coordination operates in, specifying actions and results. Our work is founded in an understanding of the Generative Human Being and is being extended to illuminate Generative Human Intelligence. We bring experience of over forty years of working with Generative Leadership and human coordination with thousands of students, practitioners, clients, coaches, consultants, and companies. We believe that our experience with human coordination and creating shared futures is an important context for the field of Generative Human Intelligence.

AI challenged us to address the crucial question of what is a human being, and to address the question of our era: What kind of human beings must we become to thrive in a world with AI?
